About Us
How It Started
We are your local cleaning experts that offer a wide range of cleaning services for your home or business. Everything from flooring to textile cleaning, we’re the company for you.
We have 20+ years of experience in the cleaning industry. Since the beginning our mission has been to offer top quality cleaning services at fair prices, all while ensuring that each client we have the pleasure of serving receives a great experience with
our company.
About Our Owner
CertaClean is led by owner Matt Baughcum, a second-generation IICRC Master Certified Textile Cleaner and rug cleaning professional who has spent years studying the science behind proper cleaning and restoration. With more than 35 years of combined industry experience on our team, we believe every home, rug, and floor deserves an approach tailored to its specific needs—not a one-size-fits-all cleaning. Matt holds more than 15 certifications through the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), including the distinction of being an IICRC Triple Master Certified Textile Cleaner.
Matt often says he could never work for someone else because he wanted the freedom to do things the right way. That philosophy continues to shape everything we do today. Instead of relying solely on off-the-shelf products, our pursuit of industry excellence has led us to formulate many of our own cleaning solutions in-house, allowing us to better control the cleaning process while using products we trust in our customers’ homes.
Why Choose Us
Today, CertaClean offers far more than carpet cleaning. Our professionally trained team specializes in carpet and upholstery cleaning, in-plant area rug washing, hardwood floor cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, carpet repair and stretching, pet urine treatment, dryer vent cleaning, and more. Every service is approached with the same attention to detail, transparency, and commitment to doing what’s best for our customers—not simply what’s easiest.
As a proud locally owned business and member of the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, we’re grateful for the trust our community has placed in us. Whether we’re cleaning a single room or restoring an heirloom rug, our goal is always the same: to provide exceptional service, honest communication, and results you can feel confident in.
We appreciate the opportunity to earn your business and look forward to serving you.
