THE CERTACLEAN DIFFERENCE

THE IMPORTANCE OF PROFESSIONAL RUG CLEANING SERVICES

When cleaning household furniture, floors, and other items, rugs tend to get overlooked. Many homeowners don’t realize that area rugs and carpets act as a filter in the home. This means that they trap dead skin cells, body oils, pet dander, odors, household allergens, dust, dirt, and other contaminants. When rugs are not cleaned routinely, these contaminants build up and lower your indoor air quality, which causes potential health issues. Promoting a healthy living environment is essential to protecting your family from illnesses.

Regular cleanings greatly extend the life of your investments. When dirt and grime is allowed to build up in rugs, the fibers become more easily damaged as you walk across them. You’ll be amazed at how professional rug cleaning services can restore the original color and texture of your area rugs. We recommend having them thoroughly cleaned every 1-3 years depending on usage/living conditions.

AREA RUG CLEANING PROCESS

We offer 2 different types of professional rug cleaning services: on-site cleaning, and in-plant cleaning. There are advantages and disadvantages of both.

On-Site Rug Cleaning

Rugs that are made of synthetic fibers such as polyester, olefin, and nylon can generally be cleaned on-site. In addition, some machine-made wool rugs can be cleaned on-site. However, regardless of material, if the rugs are heavily soiled or have potential pet urine accidents in them, we cannot effectively clean them on-site. The big disadvantage of in-home cleaning is that we will not be able to clean them as thoroughly. This service is known as a “top-down cleaning”. The only advantage is that they remain in the home. Handmade natural fiber rugs such as wool, cotton, silk, etc. cannot be cleaned in-home. There is a long list of potential damaging risks involved in doing so. We do not take these risks with your investments. We also cannot effectively clean fringes with on-site cleaning.

SPEED DRY

Lastly, our team uses fans to speed dry the rugs. When cleaning rugs on-site, we will clean them first before cleaning additional rooms of carpet, furniture, etc. This allows the fans to have sufficient time to dry the rugs as much as possible before we leave.

In-Plant Rug Cleaning

Allowing us to take your rugs back to our facility to clean them is your best option for a thorough, safe cleaning. We clean all types of rugs but specialize in handmade ones. Handmade, invest grade textiles require additional knowledge and care to safely clean. For this reason, we choose to take more of a gentle cleaning process with your rugs instead of using large, aggressive, automated equipment that will potentially damage the fibers, the color dyes, and the structural foundation of the rugs. This allows us to get up close and personal with your rugs, doing everything possible for them that we can instead of a “production cleaning” type of approach. Typical turnaround time Is 7-10 business days. Many people use this time to do other types of deep cleaning in their home. This is also a great time to have us clean your hardwood floors. This is unquestionably the best process if your rugs have potential pet accidents, as we can guarantee you 100% pet urine/odor removal with our in-plant process!

DRY SOIL REMOVAL

Next, we will place the rugs face down on our dusting grids and run our duster machine over the back of the rugs. This machine gently beats out and removes dry soil more effectively than vacuuming alone. We will then flip the rugs over and vacuum the top side to remove more particulate matter such as dust, dirt, skin flakes, pet dander, hair, and more.

Maintaining a rug can be difficult. Here are some practical tips to help you keep them clean:

Regularly vacuum your rugs to remove dry particulates and solid debris. Daily vacuuming is ideal, but a minimum of weekly vacuuming is highly recommended.

Avoid wearing shoes indoors. This is to minimize the amount of dirt and debris brought inside.

We strongly discourage our customers from using store-bought rug cleaners to clean their rugs. Different rug materials require different cleaning methods. Count on a professional to make these decisions for you.
